Jackie is a burro who was born outside Oatman, AZ on May 28, 2002. Oatman is an old gold mining town and their main attraction is the wild burros wandering the streets. Jackie was rounded up by the BLM and shipped to a facility in Ridgecrest CA. She came to TIER in December 2012 when she was already pregnant with her 9th foal.
Jackie and the two other burros who live at TIER (Paco and Belle) are extremely sensitive to fly bites - the flies bite their legs, causing an allergic and itchy reaction. The donkeys end up chewing on their legs because of the itching until they bleed!!They do get leg wraps, but the Equishield IBH are the best products to help with healing and repelling the flies.
A 4-ounce jar of Equishield IBH Salve is $35.99 at Valley Vet, and each burro needs a fjar. The 16-ounce EquiShield IBH Insect Bite Hypersensitivity Spray is $59.09. also at Valley Vet, and they each need a bottle.
$286 would keep all the burros fly- and itch-free in warm Southern California, and make their holidays very happy, indeed!

Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
