Clyde (Jockey Club name Westsideclyde) is a 22 year old Thoroughbred gelding. His career earnings was $145,000, winning or in the money for 15 of his 18 races. He didn't finish his last race in 2010, but he did go on to be successful Hunter/Jumper competitor and then a school horse. The kids he taught to ride now travel SIX hours from the other side of the state to come visit him. He is THAT kind of guy!
Clyde is one of the cherished equine "Coaches" at Second Chance Ranch, and he recently sustained a life-threatening injury. This follows his overcoming lymphangitis and a guttural pouch infection. With your help last year, he triumphantly fought through all of this!
Clyde's journey is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the irreplaceable role that animals like him play in our healing and growth. Through his Equine Assisted Psychotherapy work at Second Chance Ranch, Clyde has been a beacon of hope, a catalyst for change, and a life-saving companion for many facing their darkest moments. As we rally to support him, we're not just funding his recovery, we're investing in the legacy of hope, healing, and transformation that he represents. Clyde's story is far from over. It's a chapter in the larger narrative of compassion, resilience, and the endless possibilities of love and support.

Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
