Bluebonnet's most recent intake is a 3 year old, dun, grade mare who was released to animal control by her owners when they were investigated for neglect. They then placed her with Bluebonnet. She’s halter broke, leads and loads well, but clearly she’s had a rough time more recently. However, she is very sweet. When she first arrived, Jenn Williams, Executive Director of BEHS, was petting her for a minute and she nearly fell asleep. She loves the attention.
She will need a halter and lead rope (blue, please!) - this breakaway halter is $36.95 and the woven cotton lead rope is$12.95. She also needs dewormer ($10.50) and we're sure she would love some treats, too ($14.95).
She is currently eating Purina Equine Senior (three 50 lb bags would be $85.47 from Tractor Supply). Of course, a Tractor Supply gift card works too!
Most importantly, BEHS could use contributions toward her vet bills as she is going to need vaccinations and dental work ($300, Equine Mobile Veterinary Services).
THANK YOU to Pat D., Donna H., Suzanne B., Nancy Y., Irene J., Tango S., Mojo S., Dianne E., Barbara D., Jill L., Dorothy H., and France A. for making this new mare's holidays much more merry! $311 more is needed to help this new mare have a new life!
Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
