Ellie is a 24 year old Saddlebred mare. She came to Bright Futures after a good Samaritan bought her at an auction when she was just two years old. When she'd grown a bit more and learned a few things to keep her person safe around her, she went to live with a lady named Sandy and an Arabian mare named Angel. Sixteen years later Sandy passed away. Her husband gave Ellie and Sandy's other horse away. Ellie was a pet who was doted on daily by Sandy. The new home was a very bad choice. The only right thing they did was contact Bright Futures Farm two years later. If they had waited any longer to call, Ellie would have probably died of starvation. She came back to BFF in the middle of winter, covered in frozen manure and urine. She also was lame in her left hind leg.
Now that Ellie is older, she also has Cushing’s Disease and hypothyroidism. She needs two one milligram Prascend tablets each day, and as well as Equioxx (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory), for her hock.
Both Equioxx and Prascend are prescription medications. A bottle of 160 one milligram tablets is now about $470.00! AND Gomer also needs Prascend (2 ½ pills a day, so that’s 4 ½ pills a day) – so that bottle will last just 35 days, just over a month.
Could you help BOTH Ellie and Gomer? $930 will purchase enough Prascend for January and February.

Special Horses, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. It is a GuideStar Platinum Participant and has been a Great Nonprofit since 2015. Since 2009, our mission has been to provide outstanding 501(c)(3) equine rescue organizations with fundraising opportunities, marketing assistance, educational opportunities, grant assistance and community outreach. The organizations we support are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need, and are carefully screened and selected based on their trustworthy reputation, dedication, and excellent service to the animals in their care. Rescuing horses leaves these organizations little time to plan, organize, and execute fundraisers and outreach, and it is the mission of Special Horses to help them help equines in need.
