Senility (Lilli) is a former racehorse (and an Affirmed granddaughter), foaled in 1997. She didn’t do well on the track, and after her last race she was shipped off to the Sugarcreek Livestock Auction – an auction frequented by kill buyers. She was saved from that horrific fate, and lived in Florida, playing polo and doing hunters. When her owner fell ill in 2011, she arranged for Lilli to come to Bright Futures Farm.

2025 was a pretty rough year for Lilli. She contracted Lyme disease in August, and needed to be kept on stall rest. She damaged one of her hoof walls and her front soles became quite thin, and as a result, she needs to be shod on all four feet.

Lilli is doing very well now, but she needs shoes…a reset is $185 each time and even though horses’ hooves don’t grow as fast in the winter, they still need to be reset every 6 weeks.
